This Coach Talk relates to supporting a sequential rather than balanced lifestyle.
The phases of awareness occur in sequence and they are not related in a logical way—like apples and oranges (and bananas), the three different phases of awareness can not be balanced relative to each other because they do not follow a similar logic or pattern. As a result, I coach people to think in terms of sequence in order to be effective. You will notice in my model called the Natural Cycle of Experience, there is no indication of how long each of the three phases of awareness lasts. In fact, the graphic shows each phase of awareness as going off into space, ending at a point rather than connecting with the next phase in a complete circle. This is because while the phases occur in sequence, they don’t have a cause and effect relationship with each other.
Rather than seeking balance in your life experience, pay attention to sequence. When you are in a particular phase of awareness, look to intuition for how long to stay there—in some cases that could feel like minutes or slivers of a second, or it could feel like hours or even days. Engage in the sequential phase of awareness that you are in without attaching logic to your reason for being there or not—you are there because your energy has you there.
Make a note to find a few minutes tomorrow to randomly stop what you are doing and ask yourself what phase of awareness you are in. Then connect with the energy of your intuition and see if it feels like you should stay in that phase or shift into the next phase – then place all of your attention in being in that phase. That will have you supporting sequence rather than balance—engaged in one phase at a time. The rest will take care of itself, naturally.
